A man named Francis Batambari, who hails from Khapnor, a community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State is currently battling for his life after he was allegedly ambushed and attacked by four persons who inflicted serious live threatening injury on him.
Francis is currently undergoing medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Bori.
However, luck ran out on one of the suspected assailants identified as Barisua Baaluube, as he was caught while on the run by the Local Government security outfit, KHASPAC.
Speaking on behalf of KHASPAC, Comr. Nwibakpo Golden disclosed that the suspect was apprehended just a few hours after they were informed about the incident. He said, such an occurrence is capable of fueling another communal crisis between Kapnor and Luawei communities if not for their prompt intervention.

According to Nwibakpo, “We got a tip-off that one Mr Barisua Baaluube (M) who hails from Luawii community and 3 others still on the run, ambushed one Mr Francis Batambari (M) from Kapnor community and inflicted some machete cut that almost resulted to the amputation of his hand, is currently undergoing medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Bori”.
During interrogation as seen in a video posted, the suspect claimed that he and three other persons (now at large) attacked the victim after they noticed him holding a cassava crop but failed to explain where he got it from.
