The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, along with some of his aides today lost their lives in a Military plane crash.
Reports claim that at least 12 persons were on board when the unfortunate incident occurred. All passengers died in the devastating crash.
In a statement via his Twitter handle, the Director of Army Public Relations, Mohammed Yerima, disclosed that the COAS was enroute to Kaduna from Abuja on Friday 21 May 2021 when the unfortunate incident happened.
He wrote, “The Nigerian Army regrets to announce the passing away of its Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru. The sad event occurred following an air crash in Kaduna which also claimed the lives of 10 other officers including the crew.”
Born on 10th August 1966 in Doka, Kaduna North Local Government Area, Kaduna State, the late Attahiru was appointed Chief of Army Staff on January 26, 2021, by President Muhammadu Buhari.
