In its quest to curb the activities of nefarious elements in the State, Lagos State Police over the stormed weekend stormed a criminal hideout in Mushin, arresting 3 kidnap kingpins and seven others while also impounding 29 motorcycles used for unlawful acts.

In a statement posted on Monday by the Police, the successful operation leading to the arrests was headed by the Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, and “this was in a follow up to an earlier discrete investigation by the squad’s Decoy team to Eko Boys High School, Showunmi Street and Itire Road, all in Mushin”.
According to the statement, “The three kingpins and the seven suspects whose identity are still being kept under wraps as a result of the continuing investigation were picked up in separate locations in Mushin on Saturday evening”.
CSP Olayinka stated however that “The impoundment of 29 motorcycles on Friday evening was to reduce the reported incidences of traffic robbery and in the enforcement of the restriction order of the State Government on the corridor for motorcyclists”.
According to Olayinka, the motorcycles were impounded on BRT lane in Ikeja Along, Ile Zik, and Allen Junction respectively. He said the “operation was in keeping with the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu that there won’t be a respite for perpetrators of crime in Lagos State”.
He warned lawbreakers against flouting the laws of the state to avoid facing the full wrath of it.
He disclosed that the enforcement of the restriction of motorcyclists would continue while stating that robbery in notorious spots on the corridor would reduce as soon the mode of escape for robbers in the area is taken away.
