The security details attached to the embattled acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, have been withdrawn.
Ibrahim Magu was arrested 4 days before by the DSS owing to allegations of financial misappropriation. He has been in detention and under presidential interrogation at the head office of the DSS since then.
According to information received, Magu’s police security, in both his official and personal houses in Abuja, were asked to leave the premises on Friday evening.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday approved the suspension of the embattled acting chairman to allow for a fair and unhindered investigation.
Following the withdrawal of the security details, some family members of the former acting chairman have expressed deep concern over the development. A source within the family questions the moral behind the security withdrawal; an action which he said could expose the ex-chairman immediate family to danger from antagonists.
