A mild drama ensued on the night of Saturday 20th of June, 2020, when Ondo State Deputy Governor – Agboola Ajayi, was prevented by the state Commissioner of police, Bolaji Salami, from leaving the State Government house in Akure, Ondo State capital.
In a viral video making rounds, Ajayi was seen questioning the police commissioner’s right to halt his movement on political grounds, and wondering if his (Commissioner’s) duty is tied to any political affiliation.
Agboola Ajayi has been in the news of recent over plans to cross-carpet from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). This is further heightened by existing disputes between him (Ajayi) and the State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, over their 2020 gubernatorial ambitions.
The police commissioner seemed to be acting under superior instructions. There are wide speculations this move was ordered by the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
