Six women arrested by the in Port-Harcourt, Nigeria, have confessed to Nigerian Police how they steal newborn babies from unsuspecting mothers, and sell them to their waiting clients for huge sum of money.
Luck ran out of the suspects when they, in their attempt to sell a baby in PortHarcourt, were nabbed by the Police Force who acted on intelligence gathered about the activities of the criminals.
As seen in a video received by Star Media Renaissance correspondence, One of the suspects, Roseline Nwokocha, who hails from Umuahia, in her confession explained that, in a previous deal, she paid a sum of N1,100,000 (One Million, One Hundred Thousand Naira) in exchange for a newborn baby. The baby, she said, was sold to a couple in Aba. She claimed the couple adopted the baby.
As at time of her apprehension, Mrs. Nwokocha, along with her sister – Chioma, were caught with a sum of N1,100,000 (One Million One hundred thousand Naira) which was an agreed amount for the purchase of another baby. The money was to be paid to two women, Chichi and Ify, who would then provide the required baby to her in return.
Two other women were also paraded in the video. One of them was a mother to the new baby being traded. Apparently this time around, she consented to the illicit trade mainly for monetary gains.
