The Lagos State Police Command says it is not unaware of the crisis that erupted at Cappa Park in the Oshodi area of the state following the alleged invasion of the area by some men of the Nigerian Army in the early hours of today.
StarMedia Renaissance learnt that there was pandemonium at the ever-busy Oshodi when some operatives of the Nigerian army stormed the area at about 7 am today on a revenge mission following the death of an officer of the Air Force who was reportedly killed by urchins in the area.
Commercial activities around the area were ground as residents, road users and traders were seen running for fear of being molested. Meanwhile, several vehicles, especially commercial buses were reportedly destroyed, and some persons assaulted by the rampaging security agents.
Reacting to the incident, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Hakeem Odumosu, in a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urged Lagos Lagosians to go about their lawful businesses saying normalcy has been restored in the area.
The Police Commissioner reveals that the matter is under investigation while ordering that an intensive patrol be emplaced in the area.
