The Executive Governor of Kano State Nasir El-Rufai has approved the appointment of Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli as the 19th Emir of Zazzau.
In a statement announced on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Jafaru Sani, Bamalli will now succeed the late 18th Emir Shehu Idris who died on September 20, 2020 after a 45 years reign.
Prior to his appointment as Emir, Ahmed was the Magajin Garin of Zazau, and has served as the country’s ambassador to Thailand, with concurrent accreditation to Myanmar. He is the first Emir from the Mallawa ruling house in 100 years as his grandfather, Emir Dan Sidi, who reigned till 1920, was the last from the house to occupy the throne.
Ahmed Bamalli holds a master’s degree in International relations and Diplomacy and a Diploma in Organizational Leadership from Oxford university. He is also a fellow on the Conflict resolution of the University of York, United Kingdom (UK).
The Governor El-Rufai wished the new Emir as peaceful.
