The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has demystified reports of killings of protesters that occurred on Tuesday at the Lekki Toll-gate area of Lagos State.
In a state broadcast held on Wednesday, the governor expressed displeasure over the unfortunate incident that led to the attack on peaceful EndSars protesters in Lagos by some deployed military operatives.
He however debunked rumours claiming lives were lost in the fracas, claiming he had visited the hospital were the victims were being treatment and what he saw showed an improvement as the victims were responding to treatment.
This claim by the governor is in contrast to the many disturbing footages which points to the very possibilities of serious fatalities during the fall out. Sources claims no fewer than seven protesters were felled by the sporadic shootings by the soldiers.
Speaking further, Sanwo-Olu begged for the protesting youths for calm. He said, “Please, let give room for peace”.
Meanwhile, the situation across the state has degenerated into a near case of anarchy as hoodlums have taken over many areas, harassing innocent citizens, burning of properties, and setting many edifices on fire.
