The leader of the dreaded cult gang popularly known as the “One Million Boys”, Biola Enila, was shot dead at Olomi area of Ibadan.
Biola was declared wanted by the Oyo State Police Command following the death of another cult leader, Ekugbemi in May this year.
Biola Ebila was reported to have met his premature death while on a mission to kidnap one Femi when men of the Oyo State Joint Security Outfit, Operation Burst, bumped into his convoy and smashed him during which he was reportedly shot dead.
The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Lawrence Fadeyi, while speaking on the matter, has confirmed the death the gang leader to journalists. However, according to the state Police PRO, the information regarding the circumstances which lead to his death is still sketchy.
SP Lawrence also clarified that the dead body of Ebila was reportedly dropped from a Tricycle at Olomi after an alleged failed outing to attack a suspected rival gang. HE was however quick to assure the public that the men of the Oyo State Police Command are presently on surveillance in and around Olomi area of Ibadan to forestall possible reprisal attack as well as to maintain peace and order in the area.
In-spite of the Police assurance though, tension is still mounting in concerned communities as residents now live fears of retaliation.
The activities of the “million boys” generated a lot of issues during the first phase of lock-down in Lagos and Ogun when the gang trooped out in their large number, terrorizing homes, robbing people of their possessions, raping and inflicting serious injuries on many.
Many communities in Lagos and Ogun were forced to defend their territory through the formation of vigilantes and constant night watch, as many claimed the no longer had faith in the police to guarantee them of adequate protection against the marauding gang.
