The circumstances leading to the death of the young and talented Tolulope, the first ever female Combat Helicopter pilot in Nigeria, has continued to generate a lot of controversies, with many Nigerians, including the elder sister to the deceased, Mrs. Damilola Omolabake Adegboye, calling for a thorough and detailed investigation by the Nigerian Airforce so as to unravel the truth hidden to all.
Speaking to journalists on the unfortunate incidence, Damilola said the sequence of the occurrence itself raises a lot of questions on the possibility of sabotage. She wonders how, in-spite of the speed rules on cars, and notwithstanding the speed bumps on the road within the Airforce base, a reversing car could still hit someone to the point of claiming her life. “It’s either this is intentional or any other unknown reason” she added.
“I believe there is a foul play and I trust the Nigerian Airforce to do a thorough investigation on this. I am aware that the two boys who drove the said car have been arrested, and the military is already on with its investigation” she said.
Meanwhile, Tolulope’s father, Mr. Akintunde Arotile, has described her daughter as a gift from God. According to him, the military are taking responsibility for her burial which is according to the services’ culture. He defined Tolulope as a very gifted and special child with a very high Intelligence Quotient.
“I am very sure that even before her dead body was removed from under that car, Tolu was already reigning in heaven with the holy father. She is there in paradise now enjoying. That is my only consolation” says Mr. Akintunde. He narrated how much Tolu is devoted to God in fervent prayers and fasting. “She was even fasting on the day of the unfortunate incidence” he added.
The expression on the face of Mr. Akintunde showed deeply how much pained he is at the sad occurrence and the loss of the National Hero – Tolulope. “It is not easy to lose a child” the father said.
