Former aviation minister and a popular member of the opposition party – Femi Fani Kayode, has in a recent tweet posted on the 11th of May, 2020, expressed his utmost disappointment at the action of the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, who ordered the demolition of two hotels in the State for violating the Governor’s executive order on COVID-19.
Speaking via his twitter handle, Femi wondered why the two hotels were not rather closed down and the culprits arrested.
Till date, Rivers state has so far recorded 22 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 3 deaths with 4 discharged. In his effort to halt the spread of the ravaging disease in the state, Wike had on the 18th of April, 2020 ordered a total lockdown on parts of Port Harcourt effective from 6am of 19th April, 2020.
The demolition of the two affected hotels came barely 3 days after the Governor issued a directive to the Task Force to identify Hotels defiling the executive order for immediate demolition.
The affected hotels are Prodest Hotel in Alode and Etemeteh Hotel in Onne – both in Eleme Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Fani Kayode’s tweet of disappointment is coming in after so many Nigerians have publicly berated the Governor over what they termed “an excessive use of power”.
Two hotels demolished in Port Harcourt because they violated the Governor’s executive order on Covid 19?

The Governor did not see fit to simply close down the hotels and arrest the culprits but instead he KNOCKED them both down?
I am utterly amazed!
