Four suspected ritualists, who specializes in exhuming corpses from graves in other to remove body parts from the buried for ritual purposes, have been apprehended by men of the Ogun State Police Command for unlawful possession of a human skull.
The suspects were arrested in Odogbolu within the axis of the Odogbolu local government area of Ogun State.
Disclosing this development to newsmen in the State’s capital, Abeokuta, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi who is the Command Public Relations Officer, said the suspects were arrested on Thursday 24th of September, 2020.
According to Abimbola, the four suspects namely Muyideen Tolubi, Niyi Folorunso, Sonubi Taiwo, and Temilekun Folorunso, were arrested following information by the Odogbolu Police Division from the community that some men were digging a grave with the aim of removing already buried corpse who was not in any way related to them. He said, this prompted a swift response from a team of detectives led by CSP Afolabi Yusuf, who tracked the suspects till their eventual apprehension. Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.
