President of the Federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has condemned the high-level image-denting corruption reported in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
In a statement on Friday, July 31, after observing the Eid-el Kabir with families in Abuja, the President expressed concerns over the arbitrary abuse of office by previous and present administration. He spoke further that he is saddened that his appointees, in spite of the trust placed in them, abused their positions and betrayed the people they so claimed to serve.
“There has been abuse of trust by people trusted by the previous administration and this administration,” he said.
Buhari however vowed to ensure all past and present cases of corruption are fully investigated
“This is why we put the commission (of investigation) in place. There has been abuse of trust by people trusted by the previous administration and this administration.” He maintained.
