Christmas celebration was made memorable for Nigerian Troops of Air Task Force of “Operation Lafiya Dole” as the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Saddique Abubakar, took time out to have lunch with them on Friday in Maiduguri to celebrate the special season.
Abubakar said his visit aimed to motivate the troops, who, having dedicated their lives for the protection of the Nation, are unable to celebrate the festive season with their families and loved ones. He, therefore, stated that his gesture was to fill the gap created as a result of the troop’s inability to be with their families at this time.
Speaking at the occasion, Abubakar said, “This occasion also fosters comradeship and gives us the opportunities to commend ourselves for our collective efforts in the ongoing fight against insurgency. “It is not easy to quantify your enormous contributions and sacrifice towards the war against insurgency. “Christmas celebration is all about sacrifice”.
Abubakar encouraged the troops to remain focused and vigilant reminding them of their duty to the Nation. He said, “We are all aware of the enormous responsibility we bear in ensuring the indivisibility of our dear country,”
The Chief of Air Staff also seized the opportunity of the occasion to extol the country’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, for ensuring the provision of adequate resources for the Nigerian Air Force to perform efficiently in its assigned duties.
He said, “I want to assure you that all approved resources have been judiciously utilized,” He urged the troops to remain vigilant and focused, reiterating his commitment to reposition the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for effective, efficient and timely deployment of air power in response to national security challenges.
